Santa Disclaimer II

Well... after spending all this time making it known that we "don't do Santa"- my son had a different idea.

He came home from school yesterday, looked out the window and said "Mommy, I hear it. The sleigh's outside."

How could I crush his dreams?? What's a Mom to do?

I know! I could download an iPhone app.

Ug, thoughts???

  2. It's a tough tough subject to attack no doubt cause of course you don't want to break trust with your kid.

I think there are going to be other unavoidable things in life that will leave the kids feeling more betrayed than finding out about Santa. Not that I'm for going with the flow of traffic just because it's the flow of traffic. Plenty of children live their lives not knowing or believing in Santa.

At this point, your baby boy already has to fight against the grain. If they can talk at school together about something magical like Santa then I wouldn't counter it. I'm not saying you have to support the idea of Santa, but if Logan decides to wake up on Christmas Eve and leave cookies out for Santa like his friends do in school - what's the harm? I still think you can teach him to love and accept himself and not do what everyone else does. We can still teach him to trust you. Play it off him. When he finds out - tell him that he taught YOU to believe.
